Nobody wants rain on their wedding day. But, as all of us in the wedding industry know, 2026 has been "the wedding season of rain". What's the secret to managing rain on your wedding day if it does happen? Ditch the "Etsy Witch", have a wedding day rain plan that you love, and make the decision with enough time to allow your vendors to implement it seamlessly.
May 23, 2026 was an unseasonably chilly day, with near-torrential rain at times. This STUNNING photo of Tori and David was taken that very day.
They were married at The CAPE in Picton, where details are always professionally handled with grace and style; their number one priority as a venue is ensuring that the people they are hosting have the very best experience possible, even when Mother Nature has other plans.
The first thing I see when I look at this photo is the elegant presence of Tori and David and their loved ones surrounding them as they say "I do"; their style and poise are ICONIC. This was a celebration that was planned with deep intentionality and attention to detail.
You have to look carefully, but if you do, you can see drops of rain on the outside of the clear tent walls, and some water on the floor where it has run in from the outside as the ceremony takes place.
To make this picture-perfect rain plan happen, the staff at The CAPE and the wedding planners of Country Road Events had to make some difficult, experience-based decisions and then implement them in a very efficient manner. They expertly moved chairs and florals (florals by Picton florist Alexis Joy were dreamy, as always), setting up the ceremony space inside the outdoor tent, and continually pushed puddles of water off the floor until it was time to begin.
When the processional commenced, The CAPE staff escorted each member of the wedding party, and then Tori herself, from the mansion to the tent under stylish umbrellas, ensuring that each person arrived at the altar in tip-top condition. They smiled the whole time, and executed all of this with warmth, genuine hospitality and so much care; guest comfort and experience is always their number one priority. I am so privileged to work with seasoned professionals who haven't forgotten that true hospitality is always guest centred and never compromises.
Because this rain plan was implemented effectively BEFORE the ceremony, Tori and David's loved ones remained dry and comfortable, which meant they were able to truly enjoy the dinner and spectacular dance party that followed; always AMZING VIBES when Party On DJ is in the house! Nobody's outfit, hair or makeup were ruined. Making the decision too late would have resulted in soggy, cold guests who would likely have left a very important, and not inexpensive, party way too early. Well done, everyone!!!
