Back in 2025, Rebecca and Tom reached out to us from London, England to share their intention to elope in Prince Edward County in September 2026; they had never been to "The County" before, and were crafting the entire plan sight-unseen from across the Atlantic Ocean in the UK.

Immediately we knew that we wanted to be part of this romantic vision for a Prince Edward County elopement, and agreed to come on board to officiate!

In the months that followed, we not only built the perfect intimate ceremony script with them, but we also shared some recommendations for accommodations, restaurants and activities while in PEC.

Starting with where they should stay, they had originally booked a room at a chain hotel in Belleville; we recommended that they book something in Picton instead, and provided several suggestions.

They opted for the newly-opened Claramount Club in Picton, and they were so happy that they did! The lovingly-restored, historic property boasts incredible views of the harbour, two dining rooms, a delightful bakery onsite called PECish Xpress, and direct access to a romantic boardwalk that leads strolling lovebirds towards the historic main street of the town.

Tom and Rebecca asked for recommendations to restaurants they could easily walk to from their hotel. Picton, and PEC in general, is known for having a deep library of exceptional restaurants, but based on what they described they were seeking, we recommended eating at Bocado, Rosetta or The Royal Hotel.

We met them the night before the elopement at a wee gathering graciously hosted by our team member, Bob Cowan, where they sipped a local sparkling wine (Progression) by Lighthall Vineyards

and shared their adorable origin story with us, before wandering over to Bocado for dinner.

Their elopement was scheduled to take place the following morning at a private shoreline property out in Waupoos at 10am. As with so many 2026 days, the weather forecast that day was extremely uncertain, but the rain held off just long enough for us to get them married by the water.

Their talented photographer, Chloe Tremblay, met them at The Claramount Club at 8am to take some getting ready photos; Bob and I met them there at 9 and they followed us out to Waupoos to the ceremony site. Chloe acted as one of their two witnesses, and Bob was happy to volunteer as the second.

Their original plan had been to rent bikes from Ideal Bike after their morning ceremony , but they opted instead to meander around the county tasting wine, beer and cider, and then staying onsite at their hotel for a cozy evening in, choosing to dine at the incredible Delphine.

For us, the very best part of officiating weddings is the people we meet and the love we get to witness; second best is sharing our beloved County with the people who choose to make their memories here. With Rebecca and Tom, mission accomplished!
